Answers (from
the Bible):
1. None of us
can obey the Commandments perfectly, and if you break one part
you’ve broken them all according to God. So if you have EVER
lied, EVER stolen, EVER not honored your parents, EVER not
loved God with all your heart, you are guilty of breaking them
all.
James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles
in one point, he has become guilty of all.
God gave the Commandments to show us we couldn’t keep them
perfectly and therefore we needed Him to save us.
Gal 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us
to Christ, so that we may be justified (declared innocent)
by faith (in Christ).
2. Being
sorry for your sins cannot take away sins. Only the Savior
can take away sins. That’s what a Savior does.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3. Doing
your best is not enough to earn salvation. To go to heaven we
must be as perfect as God. Who can claim perfection?
Rom 3:10 as it is written,"THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN
ONE;
Rom 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God
4.
Unfortunately this is impossible. The Bible says our sinful
nature gets us all in trouble at times.
Rom 7:21 I find then the principle that evil is present
in me, the one who wants to do good.
5. Some
people admit they sin, but are not as bad as others who commit
“mortal” sins. But according to the Bible, sin is sin to
God. Jesus said about the woman caught in adultery
in
Joh 8:7 "He who is without sin among you, let him be
the first to throw a stone at her."
6. Good
deeds will not get us into heaven. If that were true, how
many good deeds are needed? Perfection is needed, and our
good deeds don’t make us perfect.
Gal 2:16 “nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified
by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus,
even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be
justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law;
since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.”
7. Giving to
church or charity does not take away our sins. We can only be
saved by God’s grace, not by human works.
Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a
result of works, so that no one may boast.
8 and 9.
Water baptism and communion cannot save you. It is not our
works that save us, but faith in Christ.
Rom 4:7 But to the one who does not work, but believes in
Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as
righteousness,
When the Jews asked Jesus how they could do the works of
God, in John 6:29
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God,
that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
We are all sinners and all deserve hell, separated from our
perfect God and Creator. But thank God He has made a simple
solution by faith in the Christ, the only perfect One, who
satisfied the perfect Justice of God the Father.
10. Bingo!
The Bible says simply trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord
and Savior will give you the gift of eternal life. God knew we
couldn’t be good enough to save ourselves. That’s why He sent
His Son!
Jesus said in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world,
that He gave His uniquely born Son, that whoever believes in
Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Jesus also said in
John 6:4 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has
eternal life.”
11. Not
true! You can do nothing to add to the finished work of
Christ. By adding your goodness to salvation, you are not
trusting in Christ alone as your Savior. You are partly
trusting in yourself. You cannot go to heaven that way. You
must completely forget about your good works and commitments
as a means of saving yourself, and put your trust ONLY in the
Savior; the Lord Jesus Christ.
This is why in John 19:30 Jesus said on the
cross “It is finished!”
Our sins were paid for completely by Him. HE purchased our
salvation. HE washed away our sins. That’s why HE is the One
to be believed upon, as God became man to save us.
12. This is
not true. Jesus disagrees with this statement. In fact,
Jesus is the One that warned about an eternal place of
punishment called hell. John 3:36 "He who believes in
the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son
will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
And He also invites us to a perfect eternity in heaven.
The choice is ours, but He will not violate our free will.
But He makes it as simple as possible. .”
Acts 16:31 “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved
13.
Obeying the Golden Rule, to ‘treat others as you would like to
be treated’, is not the way of getting to heaven. It is a
result of appreciation for the salvation the Lord has given
us. HE inspires us to treat others as we want to be treated.
It is a response of thankfulness to the God, who stepped out
of heaven to remove our sins forever. But salvation itself is
a gift from God’s grace, by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus
Christ.
Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a
result of works, so that no one may boast.
14.
Church membership is just another human work in God’s eyes.
Church memberships are determined by man; salvation is
determined by God when He sees faith in the Gospel. God does
not accept human attempts at earning salvation. His Word says
it is His GRACE that saves us, and if we add any works we
cancel out His grace.
Rom 11:6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the
basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
15.
Praying is a response of thankfulness for the gift of
salvation, not the means of salvation. After we are saved by
faith in Christ, prayer is another way we say “thank you” to
God, for His tremendous love and sacrifice of His Son.
Rom 7:24-25 Wretched man that I
am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks
be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
16.
Fasting is not a requirement for salvation. Again works
cannot save us; only faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who did
all the work necessary for our salvation.
John 8:36 "So
if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”
17.
Each individual must make his or her own decision to trust in
Christ. No one else’s faith can save you. Our family’s
faithfulness will not act for us.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He
gave the right to become children of God, even to those who
believe in His name,…
18,19,20. These
are man-made doctrines and are not taught in the Bible. Here
is another example of how religions often add to the
scriptures. This is why Jesus said in Matt
15:9 'BUT IN
VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF
MEN.'"
Our only hope is to have God’s
perfect righteousness given to us. Nothing we do can
accomplish the perfect righteousness needed to reach heaven.
God made a great trade for our benefit, called the Great
Exchange! He traded our sins for His righteousness! The
perfect Son of God gave His righteousness to us, while
removing the debt of our sins.
2 Cor 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our
behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in
Him.
Col 2:13-14 When you were dead in your transgressions and
the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together
with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having
canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees
against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out
of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
This gift of God is
indescribable, something we could never have even imagined!
That’s why the apostle Paul said in 2 Cor 9:15
Thanks
be to God for his indescribable gift!
And if you disagree with God’s
way of salvation, you cannot be saved. And you call God a
liar.
1 John 5:10-12
Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in
his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to
be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has
given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given
us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the
Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not
have (eternal)
life.
God has given each person free
will, so again salvation depends on your personal decision:
what do you think of the Christ?
John 3:18 "
He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe
has been judged already, because he has not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God.
Right now in the privacy of
your own soul, you can simply tell God that you are trusting
His Son, and His Son alone, for eternal life.
The Savior saves. That’s why
the Savior came. Accept His gift. And thank God that
salvation doesn’t depend on you!
John 14:6-7
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the
life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
AFTER YOU ARE SAVED, by faith
alone in Christ….then what is God’s plan for you?
Obedience to God and His Word
brings great peace and joy, and pleases God your Father. (Gal
5:22-23)
When we disobey God, He will
punish us, but our punishment will never be hell! God now
deals with us as a Father deals with his son.
(1Co 3:15, 1Co 5:4, 1Co 11:32, Heb 12:5-11)
God will never forsake us or
take away His gift of salvation!
Rom 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created
thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Why not accept God’s gift,
right now, by faith alone and not by your works? God wants
you to KNOW you have been saved.
1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son
of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
To know that Christ died 2000
years ago is only stating history. To believe that Christ
died for YOU; that’s salvation!
Don’t delay. Behold,
now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF
SALVATION" — 2 Cor 6:2
Just trust in what Jesus
said: John 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who believes has eternal life.”
If you have trusted in Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Savior, welcome to the Royal Family of
God! You have now become a new man, a new spiritual species,
and His workmanship, Eph 2:10.
Now He wants you to learn His
Word to discover His unique plan for your life.
Follow Him and live for Him,
not to earn eternal life, but because you now HAVE eternal
life.
Find a good bible teaching
church (that teaches from the original languages of Scripture)
and share the good news of Christ’s accomplishments with
others.
His love is inexplicable. His
love is so great. He proved it on the cross.
John
15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down
his life for his friends.
Now we can share this amazing
love and grace with others.
God’s blessings to you.
