We like to fit God into our
own little box, picking and choosing the scriptures we want to
focus on, and often we make our own interpretation of our chosen
verses, without even knowing it. 2Pe 1:20
But according to 2Pe 1:20, no
scripture is open to private interpretation!
And a thorough examination
of a doctrine in the scriptures often reveals something against
our human viewpoint.
Isa 55:8-9
8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD.
9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
NASU
How much higher are the heavens
than the earth? Can that be measured? It is infinity.
That is how much higher God’s
thoughts are than our thoughts, and His ways beyond our ways.
Mankind has a natural desire, from
the sin nature within us, to take credit for how good we are
trying to be.
We want to take credit for our own
morality. We want to think we are pleasing God.
But the Bible
clearly says there is none of us that are righteous, not even
one. And there is not one of us who does good, not even one.
Rom 3:10-12
Rom 3:10-12
10 "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,
THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;
THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,
THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."
NASU
Even our righteous deeds are like
dirty rags to God!
Isa 64:6a
For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
NASU
This is why the
Lord tried to wake up the church of Laodicea; to remind them who
they really were and where they came from.
Rev 3:17
17 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and
have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched
and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
NASU
We must remember that we are but
dust.
Ps 103:8-14
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and
abounding in lovingkindness. 9 He will not always strive with
us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with
us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our
iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. 12 As
far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our
transgressions from us. 13 Just as a father has compassion on
his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
14 For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but
dust.
NASU
If we learn God’s
thoughts through the categorical teachings of the scriptures,
and from the original languages of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic, we
will see the Truth from God’s perspective.
And we will look at things from
divine viewpoint, which begins with where we stand as members of
the human race: unworthy sinners who can do nothing themselves
to earn their way to heaven and live with a perfect God.
OUR thoughts are that we must
follow all of God’s commands if we want to go to heaven.
OUR thoughts are that we must
remain righteous, or God’s fury will take away our salvation and
send us to hell for eternity.
OUR thoughts are that we must do
the works of the Lord, and if we do not, then maybe we really
aren’t saved. Maybe we really aren’t a believer in the Lord
Jesus Christ.
We are SECURE BEYOND OUR THOUGHTS!
We are secure BEYOND
what WE thought was possible.
We are safe and secure because of
HIS thoughts, the thinking of a God who bothered to sacrifice
His own Son on the altar called the Cross, so that whoever
believes in Him shall never perish, but have eternal life.
We are secure beyond
our thoughts, because of His measureless grace, not because of
any of our works.
Eph 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of
works, so that no one may boast.
